Do I need a passport or visa to travel to Ireland?
U.S. citizens need a valid passport to enter Ireland. It must be valid for the duration of your stay and have at least one blank page for an entry stamp. No visa is required for tourism stays under 90 days. CHECK YOUR EXPIRATION DATE if you already have one!
What airport should I fly into?
Dublin (DUB) is the most convenient international airport. From there, you can explore Dublin or travel to the wedding venue.
When should we arrive in Ireland?
We recommend arriving 2–3 days before the start of wedding festivities to enjoy some time exploring, adjust to the time difference, and then join in the pre-wedding festivities well rested and ready to go! We are arriving on the morning of June 25th and will be in Dublin through the weekend until June 30th!
Can I drive in Ireland with my U.S. license?
Yes! Tourists can drive in Ireland with a valid U.S. driver’s license for up to 12 months. If you’re renting a car, make sure to bring BOTH your license and your passport. Just a heads up: You’ll drive on the left side of the road, the driver’s seat is on the right side of the car, and many roads are narrow and winding, especially in the countryside. Renting an automatic car is possible but may need to be requested in advance!
Where should we stay in Dublin?
Wherever you'd like! We recommend something centrally located, for ease of exploring. See our recommendations under the "accommodation" tab.
We will be staying at The Leinster hotel!
Do we have to stay at the Venue?
Short answer: No, but there is plenty of accommodation onsite for everyone and we'd love to have everyone nearby! Virginia Park Lodge also has a nearby hotel that is part of its property called Deer Park Inn just a 3 minute drive/15 minute walk away. There are other local hotels in Virginia and many cute vacation rentals (check out AirBnb and VRBO for these options). Please see list of recommendations under the "accommodation" tab.
Will there be transport from Dublin to Venue on day 2?
If you are continuing your journey in Ireland after the wedding, we suggest renting a car. There is free parking at the venue. We will be providing a shuttle to and from the venue if you do not prefer to rent a car or will not be continuing your travels in Ireland. Pickup will be outside the Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin around 1:45pm on June 30th and will depart from Virginia Park Lodge July 2nd around 12pm back to Dublin. Pending need: we may have 2 shuttles on the return, one earlier and one as originally planned at 12. If those times do not work for your planned travel, planned taxi services are available (Apps: Free Now, Uber, however these are less reliable in smaller towns and pre-planning a taxi with the venue may be better).
What is there to do onsite at Virginia Park Lodge?
Virginia Park Lodge has a 9-hole golf course onsite! If you are interested in in booking, please use this link: https://www.virginiagolfclub.ie/
Other activities include trail walks/hikes, fishing, clay pigeon shooting. You may also go into town and check out local eateries/pubs! Arrange any activities you're interested in directly with the lodge.

What should I know about using money in Ireland?
Ireland uses the Euro (€). Northern Ireland uses the pound sterling/GBP (£). Credit and debit cards are widely accepted, especially Visa and Mastercard. We recommend bringing a credit card with no foreign transaction fees if possible — and be sure to notify your bank and credit card companies about your travel dates to avoid fraud alerts or card declines. Having a small amount of cash on hand is helpful for taxis, tips, and smaller shops.
What kind of power outlets do they use in Ireland?
Ireland uses Type G plugs (three rectangular pins). You’ll need a travel adapter to plug in your devices. These are widely available online and at travel stores — grab one before you go!
Will my electronics work in Ireland?
Most modern devices like phones, laptops, and chargers are dual voltage and will work just fine with a plug adapter. But appliances like hair dryers, curling irons, or electric razors might require a voltage converter — Ireland operates on 230V / 50Hz electricity, which is higher than in the U.S.
Will my phone work in Ireland?
Most newer phones will work internationally, but you’ll want to check with your provider about international plans before you go. Many offer travel passes or roaming options. Wi-Fi is widely available in hotels, cafés, and airports, your phone can be used in airplane mode on wifi!
